From Dec. 3 to 5, 2021 Annual Institutional Conference of CTA, sponsored by CTA, and organized by Culture and Tourism Research Base of CTA and Cultural Industry and Tourism Management College of Henan University, was held successively in Henan University. The theme of the conference is “Practice and Theory Construction of High-quality Tourism Development”. President Dai Bin of CTA, Deputy Director-general Zhu Jianwei of Henan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Secretary Lu Keping of Party Committee of Henan University attended the conference. Over 80 representatives participated in the conference, including principals and chief experts from 21 branches and research bases of CTA, representatives of observer units, representatives of culture and tourism industry of Henan Province, etc.

    On Dec. 4, the institutional work symposium of CTA was held. At the beginning, President Dai awarded the signboard for the newly established ecotourism research base. The principals and chief experts of each branch and research base summarized the work in 2020 and proposed the work plan for 2021.

    In his speech, President Dai stated that the construction of peripheral institutions represented by branches and research bases has become an important drive to promote the discipline construction and talent training of the supported universities, and also an important platform to unite and lead the national tourism academic communities to serve the industry and serve the country. The tourism communities should first have common ideals, beliefs and values. Our original aspiration and mission should be the people’s tourism rights, the professional dignity of thousands of people, the high-quality development of the tourism industry, and telling the story of China’s tourism internationally in the new era. He stressed that marxism, MAO Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era should be taken as our guide at all times, and we should use them to arm our minds and get united for the tourism rights of the people, the high-quality development of the tourism industry and the construction of a powerful tourism country. President Dai also raised comments and suggestions on the achievement of tourism academic communities, social services, etc.

    On Dec. 5, the 2021 Annual Institutional Conference of CTA was presided over by Cheng Suiying, Chief Expert of Culture and Tourism Research Base of CTA and Dean of Cultural Industry and Tourism Management College of Henan University. Lu Keping, Secretary of Party Committee of Henan University, Jiang Jiding, Director-general of Henan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Wei Peishi, Director of Kaifeng Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau, delivered speeches on the conference.

    Around the theme of “Science and Technology Support the High-quality Tourism Development”, Vice President Tang Xiaoyun of CTA delivered a speech, introducing the development of tourism science from the perspectives of literature research, tourism science demands, tourist science demands and research enlightenment.

    CTA awarded excellent program fund to Culture and Tourism Research Base.

    Professor Chen Ye from Tourism Market and Destination Marketing Research Base reported the research and implementation of postgraduate projects funded by the 2020 excellent program fund.

Forum 1 - “Industry Practice for High-quality Tourism Development”. Chief Expert Bao Jigang from Tourism Impact Research Base presided over the forum, and Professor Cheng Suiying delivered a speech titled “Opportunities and Challenges in High-quality Culture and Tourism Development”. Discussions on high-quality tourism development were carried out between Professor Zheng Xiangmin, Chief Expert of Tourism Safety Research Base, Professor Gu Huimin, Chief Expert of Hotel Industry Research Base, Dr. Meng Rui, Deputy Director of Kunming Branch, Zhang Yingjun, Deputy Researcher of Kaifeng Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau, Min Min, Vice President of Henan Jianye Group and President of Cultural and Tourism Company, Li Qi, Deputy General Manager of Kaifeng Qingming Shanghe Park, and Li Ao, General Manager of Zhengzhou Yinji International Tourism Resort from the perspectives of tourism products, tourism environment, tourism services, tourism safety, tourism enterprises, tourism talents, etc.

     Forum 2 - “Theory Construction for High-quality Tourism Development”. Chief Expert Zhang Lingyun from Tourism Academic Evaluation Research Base presided over the forum, and Professor Gong Jian, Executive Vice President of Wuhan Branch, delivered a speech titled “Tourism Destination Restoration in the Post-epidemic Era”. Discussions on theory construction were carried out between Professor Tian Weimin from Frontier Tourism Research Base, Professor Li Tianyuan, Chief Expert of Tourism Market and Destination Marketing Research Base, Professor Ma Yaofeng from Western Tourism Development Research Base, Professor Huang Fucai from Taiwan Tourism Research Base, Professor Zhou Lingqiang from Integrated Innovation Research Base, Professor Wu Zhongjun from National Tourism Research base, and Dr. Zhao Yijing from Industry Institute of CTA from the perspectives of international vision of tourism, integrated development, dynamic mechanism, sustainable development, night economy, etc.

    Forum 3 - “Integration and Innovation of Cultural Industry and Tourism Industry”. Professor Luo Zibai, Chief Expert of Yangtze River Tourism Research Base, presided over the forum, and Feng Jinsong, Chairman of the Board of Yuntaishan Tourism Co., Ltd., delivered a speech titled “Practice and Exploration for Culture and Tourism Integration”. Discussions were carried out between Professor Zhang Chaozhi from Tourism Impact Base, Professor Chen Guozhong from Tourism Vocational Education Research Base, Professor Xu Yunsong, Chief Expert of Tourism Standardization Research Base, Professor Cheng Jinlong from Luoyang Normal University, Postdoctor Huang Yuanji from CTA, and Liu Ming, General Manager of Bianliang Small Song City from the perspectives of tourism market demand and upgrading, tourism system and mechanism, tourism format and product creativity, talent training, tourism culture construction and dissemination, etc.   

    At last, Professor Cheng Suiying, Chief Expert of Culture and Tourism Research Base of Henan University, made the conclusion. The annual conference took “Industry Practice and Theory Construction for High-quality Tourism Development” as the theme. Discussions on industrial path, practical effect, talent training, theoretical construction, theoretical innovation and development, culture and tourism integration and innovation, etc. of high-quality tourism development in China were carried out, which provides important ideas for tourism theory construction, academic research and talent training.
