China Tourism Academy Wins 2011 UNWTO Ulysses Prize and Awards

On May 9 2011, the United States World Tourism Organization announced the list of winners for the 2011 UNWTO Ulysses Prize and Awards. The “Nationwide Tourist Satisfaction Survey” project of China Tourism Academy won the Government Innovation Award, which is a sub-category of the UNWTO Ulysses Prize and Awards. This is China’s first research award granted by the World Tourism Organization. China National Tourism Administration Chairman Shao Qiwei and Vice Chairman Du Jiang have fully recognized this achievement, regarding this Award as both an honor and an important demonstration of China’s innovations in tourism administration and tourism-related academic results to the world.

The UNWTO Ulysses Prize and Awards, established by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, is aimed at honoring and encouraging the innovation, dissemination and application of knowledge in Tourism Governance, showcasing the latest progresses in the field of tourism knowledge innovation. It is the only award of the United Nations World Tourism Organization regarding the innovation of knowledge in Tourism Governance. The Ulysses Awards, consisting of Government Innovation Award, Enterprise Innovation Award and NGO Innovation Award, are aimed at honoring projects of outstanding innovative contributions carried out by governmental organizations, enterprises and non- governmental organizations.
